Stephen King - kungen av skräck!!

Stephen King (1947-)

Stephen King – han behöver knappast någon presentation. 1974 debuterade han med romanen Carrie och har sedan dess publicerat över fyrtio böcker och novellsamlingar. Han är en man som verkligen älskar det skrivna ordet, hans fru Tabitha och hans två söner är författare (varav sonen Joe Hill följt i faderns fotspår och gett sig in i skräckgenren). King brukar beskrivas som ett exempel på skräplitteratur men det är verkligen inte sant – många känsliga och hyllade filmer är baserade på Kings böcker (The Shawshank redemption, The Green mile, Stand by me) och det jag älskar mest med hans böcker är inte skräckdelarna (även om de är spännande och ruskiga) utan beskrivningen av samspelet mellan människorna och miljöbeskrivningarna. King är en otrolig skicklig författare när det gäller dessa saker. Han är också mycket produktiv, det är väl inte allt som är bra, och han har en tendens att bli långrandig och pratsjuk men när han är bra är han MYCKET bra. Två av mina absoluta älsklingsböcker (Pestens Tid och Det) är Kingböcker.

Så läs King – fast det har du säkert redan gjort! Och läs gärna Joe Hill och Tabitha King också. De är inte dumma de heller.
